International Polar Bear Day is just a few weeks away: Friday, February 27! We created the day to coincide with the time when polar bear moms and cubs are snug in their snow dens. As part of our awareness event, we focus on the need to protect polar bear families across the Arctic, giving them the best chance of survival.
We hope you’ll join us on our social channels for special outreach on International Polar Bear Day. Tune in to celebrate polar bears, learn about moms and cubs, and gain insights into the challenges of Arctic field work during the denning period — from subzero temperatures to avalanche risks. Also find out how, by working together, we can sustain a better future for moms and cubs.

Mom and Cubs Facts and Maternal Denning Research: Q&A with Dr. Louise Archer
Thursday, February 27 – Watch on our Facebook page
Moms and cubs are the most vulnerable polar bears in the population. Protecting them is critical. Dr. Louise Archer will join us to talk about all things moms and cubs — from her favourite facts, to why it’s important to protect them, to Polar Bears International’s ongoing maternal denning research. Bring your questions to ask live!
In addition to joining us live, visit our International Polar Bear Day page for more ways to get involved. Find a toolkit to help spread the word, donate to support our efforts to help polar bear families, and explore key facts about moms and cubs.
