Together, we can sace ice for hockey players – and for polar bears.
But climate change is melting the ice that polar bears and hockey players rely on. The Arctic is losing 13 percent of its sea ice per decade, and the frozen ponds, rivers, lakes, and backyard rinks – where many players get their start – are at risk from warming temperatures. This is impacting hockey players of all ages who learn and play the game outdoors.
In fact, according to NASA and NOAA:
2023 was the hottest year on record
The 10 warmest years on record all took place within the last 10 years
18 of the 19 warmest years have occurred since 2000
With cold weather becoming less frequent and more erratic, let’s work together to defend the ice for generations to come. As a hockey fan — and fellow ice lover — we invite you to get involved.
Together, we can ensure polar bears roam the sea ice for generations to come.
