Wes Larson has been working with polar bears as a researcher under Dr. Tom Smith for three years. During those three years he has worked with the Southern Beaufort Sea population of polar bears in Alaska, has done research on denning bears, and explored new technology that may show potential for polar bear den detection. Wes is also currently involved in black bear research in Utah, and spent the summer of 2014 trapping and collaring black bears in the Bryce Canyon National Park area. As a Montana native, Wes is passionate about the Big Sky State and its incredible fly-fishing and wilderness. He is currently a graduate student at BYU and is looking forward to a life of wildlife conservation.
