A graduate of our 2007 Teen Leadership Camp and a two-time Grand Prize Winner of our Project Polar Bear Contest, Emily Goldstein, left, is tireless in her efforts to reduce greenhouse gases to help polar bears. Among her many accomplishments:
- A Carbon Pledge website that inspires residents in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, to reduce their carbon footprint
- A Green Healthcare Conference that featured Jeff Corwin of the Animal Planet as speaker
- Outreach to local businesses that educates them about how to reduce CO2 and save money at the same time
In addition to these efforts, Emily volunteered to help PBI during the 2011 polar bear migration in Churchill. Her role included helping during the PBI Teen Leadership Camp, getting Churchill housing ready for scientists and other guests during the fall season, and coordinating a Citizen Science Project that to help document the condition, stature, and age and sex composition of the Western Hudson Bay polar bear population through tourist photos.
