Brandon Laforest

Brandon Laforest (photo above, left) is a PhD student in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University in Toronto, working under the supervision of Dr. Gregory Thiemann. He grew up in Kanata, Ontario, before pursuing a bachelors degree in Wildlife Biology and a masters degree in Animal Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Guelph. His research focuses on the feeding ecology of polar bears in the Southern Hudson Bay subpopulation, and he is jointly seeking to work with the Cree communities of the Hudson Bay lowlands to foster a collaborative approach to polar bear conservation.
