Polar Bears International respects your privacy. We do not knowingly or willingly share information with any third party about our membership, online store customers, or about visitors to our web site.

The PBI Store
We collect name, street address, contact e-mail, telephone number, and credit card information from visitors making purchases on our online store's secure order page. We do not store or retain any of this information online. We keep a record of personal information derived from orders and donations to the extent required by our auditors to verify our accounting system.

If you place an order with the PBI Store, we may use your e-mail or telephone number to request additional information about your order, your desired shipping mode, or to notify you of your order status. We may use your mailing address to send you a free copy of our newsletter and/or information on new products available in our store. If you do not wish to receive such communications from Polar Bears International, please let us know by sending an e-mail to us, calling us, or writing us at the addresses and numbers supplied above. Please provide us with your exact name and address to help us locate and remove your name from any PBI Store list.

Membership
Should you join Polar Bears International, we will retain your name, e-mail and mailing address in our off-line membership database which we use to send you our newsletter, membership notifications, and to keep you informed of PBI business and issues.

Log Files
The server hosting the Polar Bears International web site maintains log files in which IP addresses and/or domain names are saved whenever a page is requested. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information and we use information from the log files solely in the aggregate to analyze site traffic and evaluate public interest. The URL of a referring web page may also be logged for the same purpose.

Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user which can be requested by anyone knowing certain facts about the cookie. Cookies are a privacy risk and Polar Bears International does not use or condone cookies anywhere on our web site.

This web site contains links to other sites. Polar Bears International is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.

E-mail
If you send us e-mail, be aware that your return address will be displayed in the header we receive. We will use this information only to answer your inquiry. We may on occasion keep your message as a record of the contact but at no time will we share e-mail information with outside companies or agencies, unless forced to do so by law or court order.

Bulletin Boards and E-mail Discussion Groups
Should Polar Bears International institute a web-based public bulletin board and/or an e-mail discussion group, any identifying information you post to such a bulletin board or e-mail group will be public information. Although we will make no effort to collect personal information from these sources, other visitors may record your e-mail address, for example, to add to a bulk mail list. If this possibility concerns you, feel free to post under a pseudonym or with an altered e-mail address.

Age
Polar Bears International collects no information regarding the age of web site users or organization members.

PBI Security
We provide our members and supporters with a secure experience when they are ordering memberships, making a donation, or buying nature education merchandise. Any credit card information you enter on our site is strongly encrypted by industry-standard protocol, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). We take appropriate precautions to protect the security and privacy of the information stored on our computer networks. Many of the systems which store your personal information are not connected to the Internet, reducing the likelihood of security breaches. Our systems are also housed in secure facilities, and access to your data by our employees is limited to a "need to know" basis, controlled by password protected systems, and monitored for abuse.
