Sonya Faria

Born and raised in Churchill, Manitoba, the polar bear capital, Sonya spent the first half of her life working for her family’s business, Tundra Buggy Tours. During these years, she witnessed the evolution of polar bear tourism and research, working with many of the original founders of Polar Bears International. With a passion for nutrition, she completed her Bachelor of Human Ecology degree at the University of Manitoba and practiced Dietetics for over 20 years. In the midst of her career, she also successfully grew her own small business in transportation, which she currently owns today. Sonya started working casually for Polar Bears International in 2020 by running small errands in Winnipeg, gateway to Churchill and its polar bears. Realizing she missed the North, she decided to dedicate more time to Polar Bears International and is now the Canada Operations Manager, helping Polar Bears International’s outreach and research efforts run smoothly in both Churchill and Winnipeg. Sonya loves making memories dirt biking, fishing, and traveling with her two kids.
