Director of Field Operations
Mariann’s deep curiosity about the natural world and her zeal for life and learning has led her to explore and work in remote places around the world. After almost six years away, including 16 months of polar-station service work in Antarctica, Mariann is excited to be back in Montana and supporting science research in the Arctic.
Mariann spent a decade planning, guiding and managing adventure travel tours throughout the Americas. Feeding her passion for delicious food and healthy food systems, she established an organic produce farm and co-founded a local food hub and distribution company, collaborating with farmers and ranchers throughout the state of Montana.
Mariann received a BS in Environmental Planning and Policy from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay and promptly moved to the northern Rocky Mountains where she conducted sensitive wildlife and plant surveys, spent summers in alpine country as a wilderness ranger, and winters as an alpine ski instructor.
When not in the office or outside, Mariann can be found cooking, spinning tunes at the local radio station, or reading copious amounts of books.
