Kayla McCurry - Staff Bio

Kayla McCurry

Conservation Outreach Manager

Kayla came to Polar Bears International after spending much of her career developing and supporting interpretive and environmental education programs for volunteers and staff at Zoos in the Pacific Northwest. In those roles she was an avid supporter of Polar Bears International and an eager participant in PBI’s Arctic Ambassador Center network, including serving as a participant, then facilitator for the Climate Alliance program.

She holds a BS from Oregon State University and a Masters of Education from Portland State University. Kayla is passionate about environmental education, conservation storytelling, and ensuring everyone sees a place for themselves in the outdoors. In addition to her role with PBI, Kayla serves on the governing council for NNOCCI (National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation), working to help change the conversation around climate change to be positive, community-centered, and solutions-focused.

An avid birder and hobbyist photographer with a love for the outdoors, you can often find Kayla working on growing her county birding lists, chasing a rare bird, or car camping in remote corners of Oregon with her dogs.
