Catherine de Meulles

Board Advisor
Catherine “Katie” de Meulles was born and raised in Churchill and has lived there for 60 years. After the passing of her mother, Metis Elder Myrtle de Meulles, in 2018, Katie inherited the role of protector and storyteller of their bloodline’s culture and history. She continues, as her mother did, to share their stories and works of arts with the thousands of tourists, from all over the world, who visit her home community of Churchill, Manitoba, every year. Katie is a citizen of the Red River Metis from the Thompson Region and an active member of the Churchill Metis Local. Katie is also the vice-president of Churchill’s Indigenous Knowledge Keepers Inc., and the Metis Elder for the group, whose mission it is to bring cultural knowledge and education to the community.
