Sound Science: Polar Bears
Polar bears are much in the news these days, with reports of shrinking sea ice and troubling forecasts about their future. Meet Dr. Steven C. Amstrup, chief scientist for Polar Bears International and former Polar Bear Project leader for the USGS.
In this radio interview with Sound Science, he talks about his 30+ year career studying polar bears—including a recently published paper that focused on a female polar bear's epic, nine-day swim in search sea ice.
Steve offers hope on how we can save the species if we act soon to greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
