Group Plans Suit Against Alaska Drilling

Bear looking at cameraThe Center for Biological Diversity has notified the U.S. government that it plans to file a lawsuit to protect polar bears from any harm that might come from offshore oil drilling in the Arctic. In a letter to Interior Department officials, the environmental group is demanding that federal agencies immediately analyze the impacts of drilling for oil in the critical habitat area in Alaska designated under federal law and to take steps to avoid harming the bears.
