When PBI Meets High Fashion

Italian fashion designer Gilberto Calzolari was spotted on the runway in a Polar Bears International T-shirt during Milan Fashion Week.

Calzolar, whose first collection was inspired by the Arctic, recently joined PBI as an Arctic Ally.

The PBI Arctic Allies program is for conservation-minded small businesses that want to make a meaningful contribution in support of PBI’s efforts to save polar bears and their habitat.

“Fashion cannot save the world, and we cannot take ourselves too seriously, “Calzolari said. “But we can, and we should, take the opportunity to send important statements. In a world where the predominance of fast fashion is having its consequences on the environment, we need to rediscover and protect the value of local craftsmanship, and show more respect for our Earth and its resources.

“This is why, for my first capsule collection, I got inspired by the Arctic: at once contemporary and romantic, innovative and nostalgic, it's an ode to nature and to a beautiful world in need of rescue."

PBI Arctic Allies Program is a showcase for companies that demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship. They challenge employees, suppliers, and customers to reduce their carbon footprints. They also make conscious decisions and actions that reflect their environmental values.

Gilberto Calzolari is a women’s demi-couture fashion brand—an elegant and timeless design expressed in a refined silhouette of clean lines, exquisite retro details, and unexpected combinations. Calzolari’s products are made in Italy of the highest quality in tailoring craftsmanship, against the prevailing tyranny of today's fast fashion.
