Polar Bear Week Starts Today!
Our favorite week is finally here: Polar Bear Week!
We invite you to join us every single day of the week as we dedicate seven full days to celebrating our favorite arctic animal.
Every year, we hold Polar Bear Week in early November during the polar bear migration to Churchill, Manitoba. Polar bears gather near Churchill to wait for the ice to freeze on Hudson Bay so they can return to hunting seals. During Polar Bear Week, we focus on how longer ice-free seasons are straining the limits of the bears' fat reserves, threatening their survival. The event is both a celebration and a call to action.
This year's event starts today, November 2nd, and runs through Saturday, November 8th.
So what's up for Day 1?
- We're kicking off the week by watching our favorite furry animals on the live Polar Bear Cam.
- We're also marking the day with a live chat at 2 p.m. Central Time on our Polar Bear TV with PBI biologist Alysa McCall. She'll talk about Polar Bear Week, why it matters, and how you can get involved.
Check back each day to see what we've planned. But for now, kick back, watch the cam, and get tundrified!
