Good News Friday {Climate Change Hearing, Economical Green Energy, Arctic Ambassadors}

Yay for Friday! Not only is it the end of the workweek for many people, it's the day we share good news on the environmental front.

• We are glad to see some forward momentum on climate change action. The Obama administration asserted its authority to move forward on its climate change action plan on Wednesday - with or without new laws from Congress. In the first airing of Obama's climate plan, a hearing of the House of Representatives was told the Environmental Protection Agency and other government agencies were already authorized to bring in new measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We've come up with some ways you can send your message during this important hearing.

• We love when saving money and saving polar bears collides. According to a new study that aims for a holistic count of energy costs, a switch to renewables by the U.S. wouldn't only be good for the planet -- it would actually make better sense financially.

• The Gathering of Arctic Ambassadors—those who work on the frontlines of their communities to reduce CO2 and bring about change—are meeting at the Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Learning Center starting this afternoon. Stay tuned for posts and updates about their experience, lessons learned, and plans.

Have a great weekend!
