2015 Project Polar Bear Winners Announced on Earth Day

They did it again—the Project Polar Bear Teams wowed us with their hard work and creative projects to reduce CO2 in their communities, and engage and sustain community action!

The winners of the contest will be announced in a virtual award ceremony on Earth Day, April 22, at 10 a.m. ET. You can watch it live by logging in to our Google Hangout.

"From Oregon to Spain, the PPB teams really dug in and made a difference in their communities. The collective action and momentum of each of these teams is truly inspiring—and we can't wait to see where they go from here!" said Marissa Krouse, PBI's programs manager.

Our Project Polar Bear Contest is a five-month-long competition that challenges teams of young people to develop community projects that reduce the carbon dioxide load in the atmosphere—especially those that engage and sustain community action.

The contest judges choose winners from the following categories, awarding cash grants that will help the top-scoring teams carry on their projects:

  • Saving Energy
  • Zero Garbage
  • Transportation

Teams worked on a variety of projects, including anti-idling campaigns, encouraging their communities to shop locally, reducing trash and recycling, and carpooling.
