Project Outline
We will begin by presenting a slideshow to our local elementary school children. The material will go over the definition of global warming and how it affects polar bears. We will focus on why it is important to stop global warming and how that can be accomplished.
Each classroom will be given a plant for their room and each grade level will be assigned a tree at a designated location.
There will be a contest at the end of the year for the biggest tree and plant and the winning rooms will receive a prize. The trees will be maintained by the children and also the members of our project. The children will learn to calculate how much CO2 is absorbed by the trees.
If the project is successful the children will return each year to observe the progression of their trees. They will also grow up with an understanding of how to prevent global warming and why it is important for the survival of not just the polar bears, but all living things.
