Katie Florko is a M.Sc. student in the Department of Biology at York University working under the supervision of Dr. Gregory Thiemann. She earned her B.Sc.(Hon.) in Biology from the University of Winnipeg where she studied harbor seal ecology in western Hudson Bay under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Petersen (Assiniboine Park Zoo). Currently, her research focuses on spatially analyzing how changes in sea ice conditions affect the foraging patterns of polar bears in the Beaufort Sea and Viscount Melville Sound.
