350.org's mission is to inspire the world to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis—to create a new sense of urgency and of possibility for our planet. Their focus is on the number 350—the parts per million of CO2 that scientists say is the safe limit for humanity.
American Association of Zoo Keepers
The AAZK is a nonprofit volunteer organization made up of professional zoo keepers and other interested persons dedicated to professional animal care and conservation. They have partnered with PBI on education and action issues concerning polar bears and climate change. These include the Trees for You and Me fundraising campaign, participation in PBI Keeper Leadership Camp, public outreach to zoo visitors, and the Acres for the Atmosphere greening initiative.
Assiniboine Park Conservancy
Assiniboine Park Conservancy is the not-for-profit organization that is planning to redevelop and manage Assiniboine Park’s operations and ensure its ongoing financial viability. Transformational plans are underway to create a new International Polar Bear Conservation Centre that will serve as a rescue center for orphaned polar bear cubs and injured or compromised adult bears. PBI is partnering with the center to on theeducational and research components.
Association of Zoos & Aquariums
Founded in 1924, the AZA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation, education, science, and recreation. AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums collectively reach over 180 million visitors each year. AZA has partnered with PBI to develop and implement a five-year Climate Initiative to engage their enormous national audience in understanding and acting to diminsh climate impacts on the planet.
Canadian Association of Zoos & Aquariums
CAZA is the national voice of the zoo and aquarium community in Canada, representing 25 leading zoological parks and aquariums. Their purpose is to promote the welfare of zoo and aquarium wildlife, to advance related science and conservation, and to foster public engagement in the preservation of our natural heritage. CAZA was formed in 1975 as a national, nonprofit organization. They have partnered with PBI to help raise awareness about climate change and motivate positive action to ensure the future of the world’s wildlife.
Center for Biological Diversity
The Center for Biological Diversity works through science, law, and creative media to secure a future for all species, great or small, hovering on the brink of extinction. This includes a campaign to gather 500,000 signatures to cap greenhouse gas emissions at 350 parts per million.
Chicago Zoological Society
The mission of the Chicago Zoological Society is to inspire conservation leadership by connecting people with wildlife and nature. It inspires and engages children, students, teachers, and others among the general public to make a positive impact on the natural world around them.
NOAH Nature Alliance
NOAH is an impartial, unbiased, U.S.-based non-profit, umbrella organization committed to complementing and supporting worthy nature conservation initiatives. Their mission is to open the window on worldwide wildlife conservation and related community betterment projects, large and small, international and local, established and emerging by increasing their exposure to an international community of concerned supporters.
Parks Canada
On behalf of the people of Canada, Parks Canada protects and presents nationally significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage. These sites include Wapusk National Park in Churchill, Manitoba, home to the fall polar bear migration, which works with PBI on educational outreach.

Our network of more than 40 Arctic Ambassador Center zoos help us reach and motivate a wide audience. They feature bear friendly exhibits with lots of enrichment activities for the polar bears in their care. They also help educate the public about polar bears, climate change, the Arctic—and how each of us can help. In addition, they support PBI research projects to help conserve wild polar bears.
Roots & Shoots
Dr. Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals, and for the environment. With tens of thousands of young people in almost 100 countries, the Roots & Shoots network connects youth of all ages who share a desire to create a better world. Together they are involving young people in taking action on climate change—not only for polar bears, but for all wildlife.
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
The Wisconsin DNR has teamed up with PBI on a project called the Polar Bear Forest. The goal is to plant 500,000 acres with trees, removing CO2 from the atmosphere and helping polar bear habitat. The program also has an educational component that helps the public discover the link between green trees and blue ice.
