Polar Bears Showing up in Nunavut Villages

Polar bear sniffing the airRankin Inlet cancelled after-school activities at its elementary school due to a polar bear roaming too close for comfort, putting the safety of children—and the bear—at risk. Other coastal communities in Nunavut are also experiencing bear problems, leading to tragic results for some of the bears. Biologists place the blame on this year's late freeze-up of Hudson Bay.
