Meet Our New Executive Director
Northern lights are shining on Krista Wright, PBI's new executive director. The PBI board announced her appointment today following the retirement of Robert Buchanan.
Wright brings 20 years of experience with nonprofits to her new position, including four years as PBI's executive vice president and chief operating officer.
"All of us at PBI are pleased that this dedicated and talented individual will become our executive director," said Dani Reiss, PBI chairman. "Krista's proven leadership and management skills in her five years with PBI give us full confidence that she'll be able to sustain and expand PBI's role as the world's leading polar bear conservation group, dedicated to saving polar bears by saving their sea ice habitat."
In accepting the position, Wright said that her passionate commitment to conservation extends beyond polar bears to the entire arctic ecosystem.
"The polar bear is the canary in the coal mine for climate change," she said, "and I'm pleased and honored to dedicate my energy and skills to PBI on their behalf. By saving polar bears, we'll save countless other species—and not just in the Arctic, but around the globe. I can't think of a more worthwhile and urgent conservation issue to be involved with."
