Toronto Gala: What a Night!
Polar Bears International’s recent Polar Bear Affair fundraising gala in Toronto was a night to remember for all who attended—with snow, cold, and polar bears top of mind for the 300 guests who gathered to show their support for polar bear conservation. Held on February 23rd, the event raised more than $727,000 in support of our work.
“It was a brilliant and inspiring evening—one that fills me with hope and gratitude,” said Krista Wright, executive director of Polar Bears International. “It was heartening to see the level of support from donors who share our vision of polar bears roaming in the Arctic for generations to come. Their generosity will support our conservation efforts across Canada’s North.”
The Polar Bear Affair was PBI’s second gala in Toronto. It was held at the Four Seasons Hotel and emceed by Justin Fornal, an explorer, author, and extreme athlete. The evening included a panel discussion with Justin and Dr. Steven C. Amstrup, PBI’s chief scientist; the premiere of a moving video highlighting the story of Ursula, a Western Hudson Bay polar bear; and a performance by the Arkells.
In addition to donating in support of PBI’s work, gala donors raised $200,000 to help fund the completion of Polar Bears International House, the non-profit’s new interpretive center and base camp in Churchill, Manitoba, the polar bear capital of the world.
PBI is profoundly grateful to the sponsors who made the evening such a success:
