Good News Friday {U.S. and China Pledge Deep Carbon Cuts}

Metropolitan areas in both China and the U.S. have pledged "swifter and deeper cuts in carbon pollution on Tuesday, shoring up an historic agreement between presidents Barack Obama and Xi Jinping," according to The Guardian.

As two of the biggest carbon polluters in the world, the U.S. and China need to be leaders in taking action against climate change.

Beijing and 10 other Chinese cities will meet carbon reduction goals early - by 2020 rather than 2030—and Seattle pledges to be carbon neutral by 2050. Additionally, "more than a dozen other major metropolitan areas in the US, and the entire state of California, pledg(ed) an 80% cut in emissions by mid-century. Atlanta, Houston, New York, Phoenix and Salt Lake City also put forward new climate commitments," the article stated.
