Good News Friday {Dark Skies, Bikes for All, Excitement}

It's our favorite day of the week- the one where we share some of the good news we've heard this week.

• Michigan's nightlife is looking up. The state's first International Dark Sky Park has been created. It's now one of only six in the U.S. and 10 in the world. Michigan's new Dark Sky Park is a 600-acre stretch of old-growth timber located north of Petoskey, in Emmet County, along Lake Michigan and west of Mackinaw City.

• On Wednesday we wrote about one of our Leadership Camp grads and his mission to get more people to commute and run errands on bicycles. Now Bike Pittsburgh's new campaign aims to get "regular people" on bikes. The public awareness campaign will include billboard, bus shelter ads, video, and other media tactics to encourage drivers to drive with care. More people on bikes means less carbon in the air, and that's good for polar bears.

• We've been talking a lot about polar bear season around here. It's just that we are so excited. Our Tundra Connections webcasts start on Wednesday and our friends at Climate Counts are on their way north.
