Canada’s 150th – Polar Bear Proud!

By Meg Hainstock, Senior Director Canada

Ask a Canadian to sing their favourite (not favorite!) part of the national anthem, and many will belt out: “the True North strong and free!” My fellow Canucks feel a deep sense of pride as ambassadors of the North.

As Canada celebrates its 150th birthday this year, let’s show that same spirit for an animal that symbolizes the True North like no other: the polar bear.

Did you know that two thirds of the world’s polar bears live in Canada? Now that’s a reason to be proud!

To celebrate Canada's 150th, Polar Bears International is encouraging Canadians (and everyone who loves Canada) to tell the world they are Polar Bear Proud. This campaign will run throughout the year with lots of ways to get involved. Here’s the first one:

Live in Canada?

Live anywhere else?

  • Consider yourself an honourary (not honorary!) Canadian and join in the fun above!
  • Pass this message on to a friend, asking them to show you how they’re #polarbearproud!

Stay tuned as we roll out a year of ways to celebrate Canada’s 150th and show you’re Polar Bear Proud!
