Black Parkas Help White Polar Bears
Due West Clothing auction raises funds for polar bear conservation
(Winnipeg, Manitoba - December 19, 2017) – Five limited-edition Canada Goose parkas proved highly popular in a recent online auction by Due West Clothing, with full proceeds donated to Polar Bears International. Only 17 of the unique black parkas were available in Canada, and only at Due West.
The November auction exceeded expectations and led to competitive bids, resulting in a donation of $10,270 from Due West in support of PBI’s conservation efforts.
“It was fun to see how highly prized the parkas were and exciting to watch the bids,” said Krista Wright, PBI’s executive director. “To say we are thrilled with the results is an understatement. Due West’s generous donation and ongoing dedication to PBI helps support our vision of seeing polar bears roam the sea ice for generations to come—and we couldn’t be more grateful.”
Although Due West is located in Toronto, the auction was open to anyone in the world. It ran on the Due West website from November 6th to 10th, generating bids from seven countries: the U.S., Canada, England, France, Netherlands, Norway, and Hungary.
“Our team was thrilled to have created such a successful event and to be able to make a strong charitable contribution because of it,” said George Moumouris, CEO of Due West in a message to PBI. “Social media efforts, including video outreach, boosted awareness of the parkas and the cause, and delivered an excellent result. We’re delighted to have raised a substantial sum for a worthy cause in such a short period of time.”
