PBI Keeper Leadership Camp, October 4-October 10, 2009
Keepers interact with a wide variety of people—and frequently take their message beyond the zoo through speaking engagements at local clubs and organizations, involvement in community conservation projects, and media outreach. Photo © B.J. Kirschoffer. Click the image to enlarge.
PBI is expanding its highly successful Leadership Camp this year to include a session for zoo keepers. Zoo keepers reach an entirely different audience from our student ambassadors and will help us spread our conservation message to an even wider audience. As with the Teen Leadership Camp, the keepers will learn about polar bears and climate change while staying at the Tundra Buggy Lodge near Churchill during the fall polar bear migration. Participants are selected by PBI's Arctic Ambassador Zoos based on their leadership, public speaking skills, and determination to inspire, inform, and motivate others to make a difference.
