BP Exploration (Alaska)

Every year, BP donates to scientific research projects that affect the world's polar bears. These include PBI's hearing study and maternal den study, both of which will help set guidelines to protect wild polar bears from industrial disturbances. BP is also networking with PBI on our Polar Bear Sustainability Alliance, a team effort to have contingency plans in place to help polar bears in a warming Arctic.

Canada Goose

Canada Goose makes the warmest parkas on the planet. Every year, the company donates special PBI "Expedition Parkas" to our Scientific Advisory Council scientists and other team members. The clothing helps keep them warm even in the fierce cold of the High Arctic. Canada Goose also donates parkas to our Leadership Camp students and instructors, as well as our volunteers and support staff. In addition, the company has created a "PBI Blue" version of its expedition parka that includes a donation and membership from every sale.

Frontiers North's Tundra Buggy® Adventure

A longtime Platinum Sponsor of PBI, every year Frontiers North's Tundra Buggy® Adventure generously supports our fall Leadership Camp by donating nights on its remote Tundra Buggy Lodge to students and teachers. They also donate the use of a mobile classroom on a Tundra Buggy for our Tundra Connections broadcasts, which link educators with students all over the world. FNA/TBA also supports PBI’s other Churchill-based initiatives, which include free on-buggy lectures and PBI newsletter distribution. In addition, FNA/TBA makes a cash donation each year to PBI in the form of one-year memberships to each of its "Specialist" and "Enthusiast" level guests, and provided a prize of four free trips to Churchill for our 2008 Project Polar Bear Contest winners, a $20,000 value.

A key corporate sponsor of PBI, Lowepro is internationally known for the quality of its camera bags, backpacks, and other protective cases. Lowepro underwrites PBI's Polar Population Project and is the Platinum Sponsor of our 2009 Project Polar Bear Contest. In addition, Lowepro has set the corporate standard by designing a series of bags made from up to 95% recycled materials. Using these materials helps solves the problem of the many thousands of pounds of recyclable materials stored in warehouses or landfills--and reduces the company's carbon footprint.

Every fall, Apple donates the infrastructure needed for PBI to conduct its Tundra Connections Classrooms, which are conducted by Distinguished Apple Educator Julene Reed as well as other leading educators and field researchers.

Hudson Bay Helicopters

Hudson Bay Helicopters has long supported PBI's fall Leadership Camp by taking students on aerial tours of the tundra so they can better understand the ecosystem in the Churchill area. The tours include a stop at polar bear maternal den sites along riverbanks, which are starting to collapse due to melting permafrost. The company also provides logistical support to scientists as they conduct polar bear mark-and-recapture studies.

Natural Exposures Photography

Award-winning photographer Daniel J. Cox of Natural Exposures Photography generously donates photographs for use in our quarterly newsletter, on our website, and in other PBI publications. He also created a series of photographs of PBI Advisory Council conducting field research on polar bears and donated them for use in our Arctic Ambassador centers.

Sheraton Four Points Winnipeg Airport Hotel

Every fall, the Four Points by Sheraton--located just steps away from the Winnipeg Airport--donates hotel accommodations to PBI's Leadership Camp students and teachers who spend the night in Winnipeg before traveling to Churchill. They also donate accommodations to our support staff and scientists. Without their help, many of our fall programs in Churchill would not be possible.

Wildlife HD

Three time Emmy-Award winning videographer Daniel Zatz of Wildlife HD donated several seasons of his time to PBI to film polar bears during the fall migration in Churchill, Manitoba. These were broadcast to the world via our Polar Bear Cam, in partnership with Frontiers North's Tundra Buggy Adventure, and remain on our website as highlights.

Every year, XVD Technology provides the technology needed for leading-edge video and audio streaming via IP connections from the tundra. Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge

Set in the wilderness south of Churchill, the lodge is surrounded by a strong wire fence that separates guests from polar bears. The bears gather near the lodge in the summer, offering close-up views. Every summer, the lodge hosts PBI researchers who record polar bear vocalizations for analysis.
